Review: A Study in Scarlet

Image
A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle My rating: 4 of 5 stars It was good introductory story of Mr. Sherlock Holmes, the formidable self-proclaimed consulting detective and Dr. Wats0n. I found the 2nd part of the story, the back story part, very boring and a bit hard to get what's going on. Literally, the story shifts from murder detective story to a medieval revenge love story plot. But anyways, it keeps you occupied and amazed nonetheless. Loved the introductory part, the amazed of Dr. Watson frrom the deductive skills of his newly found flatmate and incredulous plot and characters. Some of the lines that I liked are as follows: "  I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose.  " - Sherlock Holmes "Do you remember what Darwin says about music? He claims that the power of producing and appreciating it existed among the human race long before the po

Review: The Sign of Four

The Sign of Four by Arthur Conan Doyle My rating: 4 of 5 stars An Exciting read. Treasure hunt, murder, mystery and deductions; full of everything.  Enjoyed reading through it. Sherlock Holmes also explains his science of deductions to quite an higher level. His addiction of addictives in the absence of an excitable case to work on. The friendship progresses to a much higher level between Holmes and Dr. Watson. Dr. Watson manages to get a wife by some precariouly curious instances during helping the formidable detective. Happily married in just 2nd novel with Mary Watson. I was bit amazed as in the Sherlock series, the marriage happens during quite different circumstances and quite later in the series at around season 3, I guess. Some of lines I liked are as follows: "A woondrous subtle thing is love, for here were we two who had never seen each other before that day, between whom no word or even look of affection had ever passed, and yet now in an hou

Anxious People by Fredrik Backman My rating: 5 of 5 stars Well well, For me, this was the kind of book in which when you're only a few chapters in the book, you just know that you'll love it. Such a fantastic writing style of the author. Absolutely, loved it. It's not the general plot that holds with with the book, it's the amazing storytelling that I as a reader found different and adored. Also, the plot being tight is just an other added bonus to the box of ecstacy you get from it. It's a book about life, love, kids, parents and most of all people being idiots all the time. Good Idiots, I mean. It's about a silly bank robbery of a cashless bank and hitherto the un-precedented hostage drama of idiots by an idiots. It'll make you laugh, cry and feel a wide variety of emotions throught it's course. Also, I loved the way the author Fredrik Backman, dealt with the topic surrounding suicide, it's influence on the protagnists, the way every
