Review: A Study in Scarlet

A Study in Scarlet A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It was good introductory story of Mr. Sherlock Holmes, the formidable self-proclaimed consulting detective and Dr. Wats0n. I found the 2nd part of the story, the back story part, very boring and a bit hard to get what's going on. Literally, the story shifts from murder detective story to a medieval revenge love story plot. But anyways, it keeps you occupied and amazed nonetheless.
Loved the introductory part, the amazed of Dr. Watson frrom the deductive skills of his newly found flatmate and incredulous plot and characters.
Some of the lines that I liked are as follows:
I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. " - Sherlock Holmes
"Do you remember what Darwin says about music? He claims that the power of producing and appreciating it existed among the human race long before the power of speech was arrived at. Perhaps that is why we are so subtly influenced by it. There are vague memories in our souls of those misty centuries when the world was in its childhood." - Sherlock Holmes
" What you do in this world is a matter of no consequence. The question is, what can you make people believe you have done." - Sherlock Holmes
